Since the 1960s, BWR has had a steadfast commitment to continuing to develop specialized expertise in the field of community planning. Since our inception, we have built unparalleled expertise, ranging from comprehensive land use planning to private/public partnership development. Our planning services, combined with our other multidiscipline services, put BWR in the right place to provide quality plans. During the last ten years, BWR professionals have prepared plans for numerous cities and counties throughout the country.
We also believe in creating quality and sustainable communities. This includes traditional neighborhood design (TND) with traffic calming, linkages to parks and open space, and designing with natural resources. We recognize that a community creates systems: street networks, utilities, parks, open space and land use districts…and that’s why BWR believes these systems must be integrated throughout the planning process. A plan for only one system, and not the others, may meet short-term objectives, but is unlikely to achieve long-term goals. The key ingredient to BWR’s successful plans is our ability to reach out to the citizens and create a meaningful public involvement process is that the plan is community driven rather than consultant driven.
